Filmed partially in the beautiful Arizona countryside, Ranger in the Wild plays as a
loose sequel to the classic William Higgins's Sailor in the Wild from over ten years previous.
In fact, William Higgins himself is billed as creative consultant.
Mostly a loop film without plot, the movie follows the work life of swarthy park ranger Eric Stone.
Stone's character watches as the voyeur, or participates directly in the film's scenes. Whereas Higgins
populated his early eighties movies with California boys, the models here are distinctly older, so perhaps
a good sub-title would have been The Next Generation.
The film begins with Stone in his uniform and Smokey the Bear hat giving a lecture
to some tourists at the Grand Canyon. Among them, Tony Cummings is clearly more interested in
photographing Stone's crotch then the lecture. Stone notices, but Cummings gets away before he can
confront him.
Later, Stone is making the rounds, and he finds Drew Andrews and Kyle McKenna locked in a sizzling
duet in their cabin. Stone watches as the two deliver a first-class performance. Andrews fuels McKenna with his
eager cock, and McKenna's hungry ass swallows it and won't let go. The screw all over the place, and
finish with big money shots.
Later that afternoon, Stone watches two couples going at it at a campsite. In one tent, Jake Taylor
is serviced by Kristian White. Much of this action is filmed through the gauze netting of the tent,
as if we were in the shoes of Ranger Stone himself.
Outside the tent, the goateed Kent Burk gives it up to the beefy, tradey Tony Cameron.
That evening, Stone observes a pair of farm hands, Daryl Brock and Steve Rambo, loading their pickup truck.
Stone gets home and begins fantasizing about the pair. Similar to the Christopher Lance / Grant Fagan
pickup scene in The Young and the Hung, the two
work each other over from the tailgate to the cab. Butch bottom Rambo declares, "I want your cock
in my ass." He means it.
Brock is a formidable top, and Rambo matches him move for move. Rambo's geyser is a fountain that
get a well deserved slow-motion encore.
The next scene focuses on a quarter of road workers in hardhats. Topman Max Grand leads Matthew Easton,
Cody Whiler and Jonathan Christopher though a maze of oran action until they separate into pairs.
Grand plows Whiler and Christipher rams Easton.
Next morning Stone discovers a trespasser on his property. It turns out to be crotch watcher
Tony Cummings, who apparently discovered his address. Flattered and aroused, the strip and
make love in the backyard. This great scene is an excellent cap to the movie. Cummings has never
been a more arousing bottom, and Stone's top-man skills are in full force.
The scene finishes with Cummings getting it doggie-style from Stone, overcome with pleasure. Stone
says in the voice-over, Tony and I have been together ever since.
Well photographed in a clean, simple style, Ranger in the Wild is energetically performed,
and a worthy follow-up to its earlier predecessor.
