Not all bareback films are created equal. Of course there's always a certain amount of predictable sleaze. Without some cumplay and sloppy nastiness as a baseline, why bother to indulge in a bareback film at all? A few studios have gone over the top, pushing the envelope so far out there that the sex is akin to a circus sideshow. Other studios have raised the bar by showing off top-name porn icons willing to take it raw. With studios competing to generate the riskiest, nastiest and sexiest bareback porn, a film like College Studs & Bareback Buds might have hit the mark four years ago.

This film's shortcomings have much to do with the SX Video's choice of models. Of the eight featured here, none can truly carry the film. Unlike Jeff Palmer, the highly marketable star of his own SX Video series, these models either don't have enough screen time under their jockstraps or shouldn't be appearing onscreen in the first place. Nonetheless, there are some snapshots worth checking out.

Take for example the film's opening segment featuring models Vic Stone and David. Stone had some excellent moments in SX's Bareback Studs. But here, he's paired with a twink completely out of his element. The models trade blowjobs at the outset, and Stone's prick comes across as meaty and infinitely suckable. David never quite manages to get an erection, even when Stone is sliding his cock home bareback. Focusing on David's boyhole, Stone works himself into a lather, trying to get off. David makes a tentative gesture like he's going to orally take Stone's load, but shies away after the first taste. Their pairing makes for a less than stellar beginning to the film.

Brad Slater takes a study break

The film's second vignette finds models Ace and Brad Slater (Barebacking with Jack Surf) taking a much needed study break. These guys are tall and lean, seemingly eager to show off in front of the camera. The fantasy is deflated somewhat when we hear their voices. Neither one of these pups is going to be winning roles in the next action/adventure film. Marlboro Men they ain't. But there is a sweet tenderness to their lovemaking, not to mention an authentic eagerness. They bypass the bedroom, opting to fuck on the course living room carpet. No surprise that after getting head, Slater is taking assuming the top role. He bangs a very happy Ace, blasting his chin and lips with spunk when he's done fucking.

On a side note, SX should give some serious thought to putting out the cash for a mattress and box spring; models with rug burn deflate the mood. The highlight here is some tasty rimming. Bringing this collegiate adventure to a close is a short frat house tryst involving Jonathen Cummings and Ricky Delgado. Give short little Ricky a few more years and he's likely to completely fill out and be packed with muscle. Here, he accepts a massage from new pal Jonathen, and quickly spies Jonathen's growing interest while enjoying the rubdown. Taking Ricky's sly grin as encouragement, Jonathen strips down and turns this simple massage into a full-out skin-on-skin experience. Do not miss the trailers; the reel stands on its own as stroke material. Chalk it up to average looking and inexperienced models, but this one never really fully develops. Models like Brad Slater and Vic Stone shine brighter in other SX Video ventures. And unfortunately, some of the models obviously need to go back to school to earn their porn degrees.
