Frisky Fans 2004 Blue Diamond Winners In what will hopefully become a treasured tradition, FriskyFans is handing out its annual Blue Diamonds, awards to gay adult movies that were "diamonds in the rough," or otherwise did not get the big release attention they deserved. The quantity of gay adult movies is much higher today then ten or fifteen years ago. (Can anyone remember a time when no porn whatsoever was coming out of Eastern Europe?) Just like with mainstream Hollywood, many films are fortunate to enjoy publicity from a sizable marketing budget and branding from well known studios. When a movie crosses this desk that exceeds expectations for whatever reason, the movie seems even better. So we are going to take a moment to applaud the underdog. We selected a group of movies that cross into different genres, so that a little bit of everything is represented. If I saw the movie hit the Top Selling charts, or if it was from a major studio, then it did not make this cut. Blue Diamonds for 2004 The Renegade Sex Parade In 2004, the tide of Hungarian muscleguy movies hit overload. Fortunately, fans of hunks only had to peer below the equator to find replacement material. The Renegade showcases the mononamed Rock. This guy knows how to plow any bottomboy thrown his way. Then he gets his straight, tattooed bodybuilder buddies to join him. And they never stop speaking in Portuguese! This was almost too much to handle. (South American Pictures) After a hiatus, Marcostudio is back, and it is so wonderful. Julio Vidal is back (and bottoms!) Here the entire point of a Gay Pride Parade in Sao Paulo, Brazil is to cruise the beautiful and get laid. Director Max Julian has the best eye for casting, particularly the straight looking guys who enthusiastically get it on. (Marcostudio) Hotel Italia 2: The Innkeeper Skaterboy Lucas Kazan is one of the most romantic directors in the industry. Unlike the typical porno flick, Hotel Italia 2 is loosely based on a 18th century European play. The models, all perfect human specimens, engage in searing sex while bathed in glowing light, surrounded by perfectly complimenting backdrops. The result is powerfully sexual. What else would one expect from a movie made by Italians? (Lucas Kazan Productions) Skaterboy is arguably the best skaterboy film yet made. Kudos to Eurocreme. Sex & the Tourist is a showpiece for Brock Wilder, a hot little fireplug. Wilder has one hot ass, and watching everyone in this movie enjoy it makes for a fine evening. The movie has six full scenes and it is on sale, another win-win combination. (Tribal Pulse) Those exuberant little Czech tramps are back, this time running a bed and breakfast. We can only imagine what happens if you give them the keys to the car. The sex is all hot, and seemingly never ends. (Tribal Pulse) Reform School Confidential Pace Reform School Confidential is not a recent movie, but the DVD finally hit the market in 2004 after falling into obscurity for a number of years. Look up butch musclebottom in the dictionary, and you will find Kyle McKenna's photograph. Its story about twisted youth locked in a reformatory is nicely told, and the sex is first-class. The high point is a cafeteria food fight, turned orgy; not to be missed! It is good seeing some of these guys again: Brian Daniels, Brent Cross, Kristian Brooks, Mac Reynolds, etc. (All Worlds) Pace captures the sports sex genre very, very well. Filmed in Australia, these jocks are all good looking and athletic, but not over-the-top muscle deities. These are the hotties you might find getting off if you poke around the local gym, when it is quiet. A simple film, the models all know how to screw, and their exhilaration shows on-screen. At one point, star Drake Romano visibly works up a body sweat while hammering trick Lance Gear. (Pistol Media) Porn Zone   Direct from Europe comes Porn Zone, a movie about guys performing for their fans on the Internet. The guys are all buff European guys functioning as well-oiled, precision sex machines. They drive their tongues and cocks right on in. Good rimming, a driving electronic soundtrack and innovative editing make this one of the more off-beat and interesting releases of the year. (Oh Man!
